I have Windows XP and IE 6. When trying to download a big file, a window
popped up stating IE cannot finish download connection has timed out. Is
there a way to lengthen the time period so this doesn't happen again? Thanks.

Hi, I went to the website in your response but don't see anything relating to
my question. Could you give me more info as to what to look for there?
thanks, susan

With dial-up ISPs, some don't see downloading as traffic and will time-out
your connection. One thing to try is to leave your email program open and
checking for new mail every 10 minutes or so. If no joy, increase your
"disconnect if idle" time in your ISP connection via (in IE)
Tools...Internet Options...Connections...<highlight connection>..Settings
button....Dial-up settings....Advanced, uncheck "Disconnect....."
