Long Distance?

I am trying to configure Phone and Modem options for a specified location.
When configuring dialing rules I am befuddled by the notion of how Windows
defines what is long distance! How does Windows determine a number is long
distance? We have many numbers within our area code which are long distance
and require a carrier pin number. Simply defining area codes does not work!
Do I have to specify a Rule that Windows should dial 1+ Area Code to make
Windows understand the number is long distance? Please help.

I have never found a consistent way that works with one dialing rule. I set
up 2. One for any call (local, toll and long distance) that does not require
any special action. I have a second one for using a prepaid calling card for
all calls. It assumes a full 10 digit number. When sending a fax I decide on
which one to use.

I think i can help you with the problem. but it involves changing it in the
registry editor(regedit). if you are not sure how to change the settings,
please refrain from doing so, cos it may cause instability in the system.
