Long disk access delay

Upon booting my XPE device, there is a long delay (upwards of a couple
minutes) when I open My Computer and try to view files on the disk drive.
Sometimes the system locks up. The delay/lock-up also occurs when I try to
launch an application right after booting up. It's as if the system is doing
something right after boot up before it can access the drive. If/when the
system does recover from the delay, I can access the drive, but it seems to
be a little bit slow. There is no problem when Windows 2000 is running on
the same system.

I noticed in my pmq import log that the following message is present:
Warning:Could not find a driver for Generic volume (STORAGE/volume).

My guess is that this message is related to my problem. Any thoughts on this
would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read Brad's answer, can you give us more info regarding his answer?

I put up another post after this one because I wasn't sure that this one
went through. Guess I need to be more patient.
