Long delay on Startup before desktop icons diplay

When I boot my XP machine, the desktop wallpaper and taskbars shows, but there is a 3 to 4 minute delay before the icons display. There doesn't appear to be anything unusual in my Startup Services. Any suggestions or ideas on how to solve the problem? Thanks...

Disable startup programs one at a time rebooting in between to see if one of these programs are tha cause. Type msconfig in the Start -Run and go to startup.
