logon to 2000 domain get blue screen

I have 7 XP Sp2 systems. When some one logs into the 2000 Advanced Server
domain they are presented with a blue screen background. There are no
erroros in the event logs. If the user does a ctrl + alt + delete, they can
bring up the task bar or logout. The next time they might logon and
everything is fine or they might get the same blue background. It appears to
be random. These are new systems with XP Sp2. They have been patched. The
last time was about two weeks ago. Any one have a thought that might help.
Thanks in advance.

I'm a little puzzled. When users press Ctrl+Alt+Del in a domain
environment then they get a panel with six buttons. You say that
they get the Task Bar (which is the bar at the bottom of the
screen). Are you sure?

When users have the blue screen, what happens when they
press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, then execute explorer.exe?

You might have some corrupted profiles. Blow away the user's
profile folder, then get him to log on again so that Windows
creates a new profile.

Sorry. You are correct about the panel. I meant they could choose task
manager as one of the 6 options. This happens to all users. I have tried
removing the profiles. The person that I do that to can log in. This issue
will happen again later on to the person that I deleted the profile on. I
replaced a lot of my Win2K professional systems with the XP SP2 systems. The
Win2k system were removed and brand new systems were put in to replace the
Win2k systems. So, this is not an upgrade. The remaining Win2K systems work
fine. I have been testing this with my unpriviledged account. This happens
to my priviledged account as well. It is the XP systems that are giving me
the head ache. When this problem occurs, there are no icons on the desktop
or anything. It is just a blue screen. If I look at performance through the
Task manager, the CPUis not being taxed. there is plenty of memory.
