logon script on DC?

I'm just trying to get a logon script to work on the clients when they logon
but I want it to run from the server.

I tried putting the batch file in their profile in AD.

I tried putting it in the Group Policy under User Configuration, Windows,
logon script. (I was using gpedit.msc - should I use a different one on the
DC?)

It does not attempt to run on the workstation that is a member of the domain
when I log in to the domain.

What am I doing wrong please?

Thanks

Thanks - the client still won't run it. I tried going through gpedit.msc
and tried clicking on policies for the domain under ad users and computers.

Everything looks ok to me but the client won't run the logon script.

Some more info. I tried putting it in the startup script as well as the
logon script through group policies for the domain. I also tried putting
it both through the group policies for the local server. I also tried
putting it in the profiles. I can run it from the client if I run the full
path and the executable - I also tried making a batch file - neither seems
to get touched on logon.
