Logon Script problem

Hi,

I have a Win2K Domain with 2 DCs. All users are on the domain and using
WinXP Pro.

I am having a problem of running logon script. Then I looked into the
c:\WINNT\SYSVOL. I found that the structure is strange.

I found there is another sysvol inside C:\WINNT\SYSVOL. And this
second-level sysvol is actually the share point shared as sysvol. (I don't
know the configuration of the AD because it is setup several years ago by
another one.)

The strange thing is I put a .bat script file into
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\SYSVOL\mydomain.com\scripts\. I think it will run whenever
the related user logon to domain, but it never run. And the .bat script file
replicated to C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\DOMAIN\scripts\ and also
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\SYSVOL\mydomain.com\scripts\.

Not only logon scripts do so but also policies. I found that all policies
inside c:\..\mydomain.com\policies are also replicated to
C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\DOMAIN\policies\.

Although the logon script cannot run as I set it in user setting. I can get
it run if I set a group policy and link to the users OU.

I am not sure the above is correct or not. What I want is to make the logon
script runs. Hope you can understand my description.

Thanks for everyone helping.

If you want to use the user properties to define logon script (the old way -
it is only there for backward compatibility) you need to drop the scripts
into the NETLOGON share, or define the path.

You have already worked out how to do this the Windows2000/ 2003 way - via
GPO. Which worded for you. I would do it this way. Link the GPO to the
domain if you wish to apply the script to everyone.

Note. The SYSVOL structure you state is correct.

thank you Paul.
I...actually moved users to difference OU and link a GPO to them. Thanks for
your advice.
