logon problems - locking me out

Hi all,

I have TweakUI, and i've been using it for a year or so. Yesterday
I tweaked some things, but NOT the logon settings. Today when I booted up,
i got an error screen, then it switched to "windows is loading your
settings", but it doesn't leave there. So I went in in safe mode and
checked tweakui - all is well, i played with the settings - nothing. So i
did a system restore, twice, but both times the SR wouldn't work. A few
times on boot up, it would ask me to enter my password - but not have any
names to choose from. Finally, I added two new account names, and they
showed up at the load up screen, after turning off automatic logon in
TweakUI. this is not how i want to enter my computer, i'm the only user.
Any ideas?

Perhaps corruption, malware, virus, worm? If you have a Windows XP CD, do a Repair
Install, you probably should have done before adding new user accounts. A Repair Install
retains your programs and data files, but repairs Windows. The downside is that you will
have to reinstall any Windows XP Updates and Service Packs that you've already installed.
But that's only a small annoyance if a Repair Install fixes the
damage, and you can avoid having to do a clean install.
