When I attempt to log on I get an error message saying "Cannot log you on
due to an account restriction". What's up with that? I am just trying do go
directly to my desktop (without a logon: I am the only user) with no success
so far. I have a previous post and got some info on what to do but it
doesn't seem to work for me.

It sounds as if you're running XP Home and you left the username at
Administrator, in the CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 dialog. In XP Home, the built
in Administrator account can only be accessed in Safe Mode. Clear the
error and logon normally on YOUR username. Run CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2
again, check the box Users must enter a username............ Click Apply.
Uncheck the box again and click Apply. Now enter the username that you
want automatically logged on, and any password for that account. DO NOT
leave it at the default of Administrator.

Thanks, Doug!
