Logoff, Shutdown, Restart Error(s)

When I logoff, shutdown, or restart my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 system an
error message dialog appears for an instant but not long enough to read.
Does anyone know if the message is logged anywhere and if so what log?
About the only thing I can catch with the naked eye as it flashes by is
DLL.

try control panel, administrative tools, event viewer....

Thanks Jason. Exactly what I was looking for. The system event log
identified the program causing the error to be sysupd.exe. It turns out
that this program was associated with a malware component called
VirtuMonde. Ad-Aware cleaned it out. Thanks again for the info.
