I'm using a friend machine because I can't use my own. Today when I turned
the machine on, to log on, the opening blue screen opened which had the
ususual message to click my name to log on. The only problem is that there
is no name displayed to click onto. Since there is nothing to click on
there is nothing there to allow me into the machine..

I have tried loging on in safe mode with the same result. I then tried the
XP reinstall but this wants my password. I am the only user of this on this
PC & have NEVER used a password. Never the less I tried my name &
variations on it , I even tried administrator but none of these things
worked. I have tried most options using the XP disk but they all want my
password.

What's going on. How do I get back into windows? I have been lent a
special boot up disk from a friend that allows me to get at some of the
underlying settings. Is there some way in here to either delete any
password, change it or get past it since I don't want to have to reinstall
everything?

Thanks in advance
