I recently had to reload xp sp2 from scratch. I then did all of the patches
form microsoft. Now when I boot up I have to chose a user. Befiore the crash
it would boot directly into windows with no intervention on my part. My
question is is there a way to get back to the previous behavior? BTW I am
the only user on this computer.

Use the "control userpassords2" method near the bottom of the KB article.
