Can anyone please tell me whether it is possible for my visitors to login to
my website, I have created a registration form which works and adds them as a
user but I don't know how to set the site so they can type in their username
and password and click submit, I can only do it so they click "sign in" and
then it asks for the details.

That is all you can do with the registration component. If your host allows, you can create a subweb
and assign unique permissions.
