I have the exact same problem and it's driving me crazy!
It says I have 1 unread email message, but my email inbox
is completely empty. I use hotmail as my primary email
account and have checked it with Outlook XP, by logging
into hotmail through my web browser, by checking my email
through MSN Messenger, and I even looked at my email
through MSN Explorer, but no matter which program I use it
still says that I have 1 unread email message on my
Windows Logon. It's so annoying. Help!

Hi,

Download and install *TweakUI for XP*

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

There is an option within to turn this off...

Jeff,

I am interested to see replies to your post.

Similar situations appear for me in my Comcast Mail Box. This mail box can
say I have this many messages but checking box numbers don't correspond,
also at times messages appearing in Comcast Mail Box don't appear in Outlook
Express. Looking forward to replies.

Stan
