Login password is now invisible

Usually when I start up Win2000 and get to the log in screen, as I type the
password in
a series of asterisk fill the line, one for each letter of the password.
Then when I
hit enter I go immediately to the desktop. What's happening now is that
when I type in
the password nothing shows on the line (no asterisks, no sign that I'm
typing in a
password). Then when I hit Enter there is a delay of about 15-30 seconds
before the
desktop comes up.

Can someone suggest what is happening and tell me if there is a way to fix
this problem?

John

I guess I might be concerned that some trojan has possibly replaced
"msgina.dll"
