anyone gettin a hold of my latop and just be able to use it. i had gone
through my user account and it say that it is password protected. how can i
get that option back to where it ask for a password when i turn my laptop on?
please help

Hi there,

Are you refering to the BIOS boot up password or Windows user account
password?

to enable BIOS password, refer to
http://www.lockdown.co.uk/?pg=biospsw&s=articles. However do note that
different BIOS vendor has different method of setting BIOS password. but the
idea is generally the same.

To ensure that users are required to enter their password to logon to
Windows,
Go to 'Start' > 'Run' > type 'control userpasswords2' > and make sure 'Users
must enter username and password...' is checked.

Neither the BIOS or the Windows Passwords offer much protection and
they both can be bypassed easily. Using an encryption program is the
only way to get a modicum of security in data protection. Both will
of course stop a casual use of your system.

im actually referring to the password for when you turn your laptop on, it
ask for it before it loads windows and program . it used to ask for it but
now, it just loads everything

kuan,
pls disregard my reply to your post... your reply to my first one was the
one i was actually looking for. Thank you for your help, i greatly appreciate
it.
