LOGIN ID AND ADMINISTRATOR AUTHORITY GONE

C

csol0121

I am a single user with password protection and setup as
the system administrator. When I logged in today, my
user name was missing and replaced with another version
of my name. All my administrator authority is gone and I
have no access to my programs. I cannot recover/restore
because the admin authority is gone. I couldn't even
remove and reinstall the software. I cannot check to see
if my data is missing because the system does not
recognize me as the system administrator, but there is no
option to let it know who I am. Can someone please help
me? I have two weeks worth of work I can't get to right
now and I am desparate.

Hi.

I have the same issue since last night. I have acces to
other accounts but the admin password on both my
computers, linked by a router, are not recognized.

Can someone help.

Log in using the built-in Administrator account, and reset
passwords and/or create/modify user accounts as desired. In WinXP
Pro, press CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome Screen. In WinXP Home,
restart into Safe Mode.

Afraid Bruce is not telling the whole truth here. My
experience is that once I gain administrative access and
attempt to create new users, the new users I create
receive the message: Your account is not configured to
access this compute. Please sign in from a different
computer. And I'm just a single computer, not on a domain
or a network. Be very careful about changing user
passwords in XP. There are so many gotchas its astounding.
