logical drive access

Cannot access any logical drive (CD, floppy, Zip drive).
Get message stating "Drive (x) is not accessible.
Incorrect function."

Problem occurred after receiving a blue screen error
message due to unplugging a USB device without using
uninstall or eject. I have tried the following with no
luck:

SP4 installed. Reinstalled all drivers for the logical
drives. Removed/reinstalled all logical drives.

My problem is solved! A newsgroup search turned up
several others who had the identical problem as mine. A
common thread was installation of either Nero's InCD or
Norton AntiVirus as the last activity before the problem
ensued.

Well, my problem developed after installing Norton
AntiVirus. However, I also had the [USB unplug] blue
screen incident during that same session on the PC, and
never even thought to suspect Norton. I uninstalled
Norton AntiVirus, and everything is now working fine. All
drives are accessible. I will now be installing McAfee
VirusScan.
