My father bought xp and was installing it and when it
said to enter password his number lock wasn't on and he
entered thb1942 with out the number lock on and then he
notice the cursor in between the hb so he arrowed over
past the b and type 1942 and hit entered but it ask him
if he forgot his password how do i find the password he
set up so he can get into the computer to reset up the
password. he just bought the program and has never even
used it

any help would be appreciated

The password is Case Sensitive.
Check Caps Lock and try various of Capital combinations.

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
