logging off & switching users

my daughter uses my computer substantially more than i
do, so i'm not sure if she's done anything or not. I have
myself as the administrator and i have her set up as a
limited account user. If i'm on the computer, i can't log
off. The only thing i can do is "switch user" or turn it
off manually. She is allways chatting on line with her
friends here in town. Has all that internet chat slowed
down, or possibly harmed it?
 
Are Log Off and Shutdown missing from the Start Menu? Or are they there and
the options on the following screens aren't there, or don't work?
 
Yes, they are there.if i click the Start Menu, I then
click Log Off, then on the following screen I click Log
Off again and the clear off and nothing else happens. But
i can Switch users.
