Logging into networked computer requires username and password

I have a server running Win2K server. I'm trying to access its shared
folders from a WinXPHome computer. The username and password I use to log
into the WinXP computer is the same as a user I set up on the server. Why
does it always ask me for a username and password everytime I try to access
the server from the workstation? I have other computers that don't have the
pop-up box come up at all.

XP Home cannot join a domain and does not cache passwords. Your XP Home
computer is behaving as designed. The other computers are probably XP Pro.

Try resetting the users password on their XP Home computer and on the server
to a new identical password and verify that use logon is the same on both.
Make sure that any session they have on the server is closed and try again.
If they are using a mapped drive to access share disconnect it and create it
again with the new password. Try access yourself from the computer after a
reboot to see if it works after logging on as the proper user. Check that
use user is not using switch users on the XP Home computer. Verify that the
user, or a group that the user is in, has share/NTFS permissions to the
share they are trying to access and does not have any deny permissions to
the share via share/NTFS permissions either explicitly as a user or via
group membership. If none of that helps try logging onto that XP Home
computer with a user account [after logon/password is created on that
computer] that is not having the same issue with share access from other
computers and try again.
