Locking up, running slow

I am running Windows XP 5.1.2600 with service pack 2 build 2600 an AMD 2119
MHz with 512 MB and 242 MB available, virtual memory is 2 GB available memory
1.96 GB

Can someone please help me? I am not a computer guy but am not computer
illiterate either. I downloaded and tried Pro Show and it worked OK, I liked
it but it didn’t do DVD’s so I bought Pro Show Gold and it keeps locking up
and responding and not responding, Grrrrrrr!

I have defragged, cleaned the disk and registry, along with checking for
malware. CPU % runs from >12% most of the time to spikes of 89% (very few) My
physical memory is 490992k, available memory 251272k and system cache
319688k. Commit charge (whatever that is) is 14852k with Proshow Gold (PSG)
not running to 227862k with PSG running. Commit charge limit is 756052k and
peak is 234532k. I have 28 processes running (that sounds like a lot) and
beside PSG the big users are, ie explorer (when running) 20668lk,
explorer.exe (owner?) 12924k, svhost.exe (system?) 18008k svhost.exe (local
service?) 4108k and svhost.exe (network service?) 3832k

If the application is the only thing locking up (not the entire computer) -
contact their technical support to help you troubleshoot the issue.

Before you do, however; Download and install all the latest hardware device
drivers for all your hardware from each individual component's
manufacturer's web page. Motherboard chipset, video card, sound card,
network card, etc.
