Slow Loading - Solution??!!

Had same painfully slow loading on XP Home for a couple months. SOLVED problem with additional memory module!! Was running XP Home with 128 MB RAM just fine until...started slow operation after the critical update. Saw performance parameters (under Task Manager) under "Commit Charge" running greater than 99%! Found out @ Microsoft that this parameter monitors memory available for running programs and processes. Added 256 MB today (384 MB total) and system runs quick - like new! Commit Charge now showing about 30% of capacity. Everything I've read in this forum, plus the research on performance makes me conclude that the critical update loaded down memory in systems trying to run with 128 MB - even though they were running fine before the update. Good Luck!

Depending on your system, go out and get another 256 chip
and insert it or replace the 128. If you've got an older
computer, you'll definately notice the difference. 512 is
the min for me from now on...

I've got a simple analogy as to what processor speed and
RAM do in your computer. Processor speed is like
horsepower. It'll let you run really really really fast
the more you have. RAM is like your torque. If you don't
have enough, you'll take forever to get to your fast
speed, if at all.

Glad to hear you've got everything working! Thanks for
posting your experience. It helps other readers know that
they're probably not the only people who experience these
things.

I also have the same problem. With adequte hardware, i do not think its my hardware causing the problems. what i exp. is that my page file usage history would go high and my screen hangs for a long period of time. what i have done was that i pressed the Win Key + M to minimise all programs and i press F5 a few times to refresh my desktop. Is there any way which i can prevent this? Any help is appreciated.
