"Locking" All XP Volume Controls?

x-no-archive: yes

Just got a great set of Bose computer speakers with an independent volume
control.....sits on the desk next to the monitor, rotating knob, 'tap' to
mute, etc.

Now that I've got this, I find it frustrating when other family members use
volume controls inside of various programs that make things too loud / too
low for my new speakers when I try to use them.

So.....is there a way to "freeze" the "Volume Control" and "Wave" sliders on
the volume controls within XP? In a nutshell, I'd love to set them to a
certain halfway point and force everyone in the family to stop using sliders
within iTunes, winamp, video games, and get used to doing things the old
fashioned, analog way.

TIA

In my house, I just say "Don't touch the volume controls".
Might that work for you?
