LOCKING the XP VOLUME Controls? Possible? Someone? Help!

Just got a great set of Bose computer speakers with an independent volume
control.....sits on the desk next to the monitor, rotating knob, 'tap' to
mute, etc.

Now that I've got this, I find it frustrating when other family members use
volume controls inside of various programs that make things too loud / too
low for my new speakers when I try to use them.

So.....is there a way to "freeze" the "Volume Control" and "Wave" sliders on
the volume controls within XP? In a nutshell, I'd love to set them to a
certain halfway point and force everyone in the family to stop using sliders
within iTunes, winamp, video games, and get used to doing things the old
fashioned, analog way.

TIA

I think you would be better off talking to your other family members
and informing them to STOP adjusting the volume. Software solutions
are not as effective as good family values.

Family values? I appreciate the jokes and I appreciate the lecture but the
reality is.....

I'm looking for a software solution. Is there a registry tweak or shareware
program that will prevent *any* piece of software from getting ahold of my
volume controls?

There may be a way using _group policies_. Help and support
should lay this out for you.

Thanks Frank....did lots of searching but cannot find a) the XP plug-in that
enables Group Policies or b) something that specifically says how to set up
a "no volume control within software" Policy.

Can you shed some light?

TIA

Well I wasn't joking, but if your family isn't willing to work with
you try this: Lock out there accounts so they can't use the machine.
Let them know the ONLY way you will unlock the account is if they play
nice from now on.

How about this.....

Go find me a registry hack or a shareware program that helps me instead of
wasting my time trying to get me to come to blows with my family.
