locked out

I think i may have a virus and i cant get rid of it at all. when i log into
my administrative account no desktop icons show up and the start bar just
keeps flashing. The only thing that i have found that works is
ctrl/alt+delete and that isnt doing me much good. How do get rid of this
problem

start the computer, when the bios download press F8 and select safe mode

if no problem found(virus) restore here you system to a previous day
