Locked out

I have been working on security in the past few days. I had been working in
an Access database today and it was working fine without my requiring to
provide any username and password. I closed it and opened another in the same
directory and it is asking for username and password which it seems I dont
know. Now it requires username and password for all databases including the
one which did not require one this morning. Interestingly, I did not make any
changes to my security settings today and yet this problem occured. After
this problem occured, I have tried setting my workgroup information file to
the system provided, that is system.mdw and yet it asks for a username and
password for all databases. Please help as I cant open any database on my
computer.

I just remembered that while working on the Access database which I was able
to open in the morning, I had to set the macro security to 'low' to be able
to advance

It sounds like you have setup a password for the ADMIN user in your default
workgroup.

You will either need to enter the password, or recreate your workgroup file.
If you don't have a backup, you can actually delete (or move safely to
another folder) the system.mdw. When you start Access it will build a new
one. I believe this may prompt you for the install disks in some cases, so
make sure you have them handy.

I was able to resolve the problem by just setting the macro security to low.
Now I can open my databases without Access prompting me for a username and
password. Whats the significance of this?

Rick B: a thousand kisses and a big bouquet of roses. I have wrestled with
this problem for days. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have gone to
microsoft and paid for information. I knew that this problem was easily
solved. Thank you.

And thank you Neeraj for asking the question!

I have a unique problem I have never incountered before. When I start up my
computer a message comes up that says, Your computer has been locked. Then I
need to come up with a password or an administrator user and password to get
access to anything. I have tried all combinations of passwords but nothing
works other than going to system restore which is only a temporary fix. What
is going on and how do I fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
