All databases including new ones require password!

I have been practicing Access 2000 with the Northwind database and
attempting to set security. Worked ok for a while. After a month or so of
not using it I came back to make a new database and found I could not open
new or old databases. I DON'T have any info that I need in those databases,
but I cannot open anything without a username and password. None of the
usernames/password combinations I have written down work. I tried many
variations of the username/password. Third party programs to recover
username/password say security is not set. Cannot find a System.mdw file.
Where should it be located? I can get to Access on another computer if
coping the file over will help. Removing Access and reinstalling it is
DEFINITELY an option.

I don't understand. Does the third party password cracking tool, ask
you to choose a workgroup file? If so, which one are you choosing, if
you don't have system.mdw?

I'd check again, in all files & folders on your pc, including hidden &
system files, for a copy of system.mdw. Tell us if you find any (and
what folders they're in). Don't do anything with them yet.
