Please excuse what will be blatantly obvious in a
minute.I had my pc at work rebuilt. The guy installed
Microsoft 2000.After being on vacationfor 10 days, we
returned only to discover that the pc would not accept
the same login info we had used previosly.Consequently, I
cannot access any of the information in my computer.I was
not given a cd,nor am I able to reach the gut who rebuilt
my computer.I would install the cd I have for Windows 98
which was origianally on the computer if that would work
or Windows xp professional, if that is feasible , but
really do not know where to begin.Microsoft support
basically says tough. You do not have the cd for 2000 so
we cannot help you even though I had 98, xp , and have
been a customer with msn for years.I ther a solution to
this problem that will not cost me $250 consulting fee?

Hi

You might try to reset the local Administrator password
with one of the methods mentioned here:

After resetting the password, using one of Torgeir's links,
consider this:
- If you paid for Windows 2000 then you are entitled to
a CD and a licence code.
- If you don't have either then you should go after the
technician who installed it.
- If the technician is worth his salt then he must give you
the administrator's password.
- You should now plan ahead and create a second admin
account, same as when you get two sets of keys when
you buy a new car. Lock one of them away for future
use!

Blaming Microsoft for the lousy service provided by a
rogue technician is probably kicking the wrong can.
