Hi all,

I am facing boot.ini sequence problem on my boss's pc.I had installed
windows 2000 professinal on his pc.later on as per his urgent need one
engineer had installed windows 98 on the pc.Now as we know newer operation
system should be installed after older windows operating system but here we
had installed older operating system after newer operating system.Now
boot.ini is looking like...

Timeout=30
Default=C:\BOOTSECT.dos
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional (Default)"
C:\ = "Microsoft Windows"
Windows 2000 (Default)

when pc start, it will point to "windows 2000(Default) and windows 98 start
automatically if windows 2000 professional option not selected.

Let me know if any solution rather than installing both windows system again.

I assume your question is how to set the default menu item. The answer
is simple: Instead of making it C:\BOOTSECT.dos, you make it
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT. At the same time you
should set the timeout to 3 seconds unless your boss is happy to
twiddle his thumbs for 30 seconds on each boot.
