Locked out of protected files

I recently upgraded my motherboard to a newer, faster
board. The installed version of Windows XP Home Addition
on my hard drive did not agree with the new motherboard.
The PC refused to boot up in XP with the new motherboard.
I tested the hard drive in another machine & it came up
fine.

After doing some checking, I was told that since I
changed motherboards, XP did not have the drivers for the
new motherboard, & a reinstall would be the best approach.

I have done this. I now have XP up & running.

Some of my files under my login & in My Documents folder
were in protected mode, that is, only I could log in
(with a password) to get to these files. Now that I have
recreate the logins for the PC, I am unable to get to old
files on the hard drive. I can see the folders under
Windows Explorer, but when I click on them, I get a
message back, saying access is denied. I have also try
getting to the files a different way by using the command
prompt & the cacls command. No luck there either.

The files I am trying to get at the most are the
favorites folders.

Do anyone have any ideas???
