While trying to upload pictures from my camera, I discovered that a folder
has been denying access - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents. The
'Customize' tab is missing from the properties dialogue. Other folders in
....All Users are ok. I've also been seeing dual instances of iexplore.exe in
task manager. Are either or both of these things symptomatic of a more
seriuos problem?
Malware, A/V & rootkit scans come up w/ nothing.

The article says it applies to XP Pro. I'm running Home SP3. There is no
check box to 'Use simple file sharing'. What else could I try?

If the above dos'nt help, put the EXACT error message into Google.

So, I looked at the folder's properties, told it to 'share on the network'
(since I do have one), Windows responded w/ some sort of error message, and
now the folder has been renamed to Shared Folder which I can now access. The
contents of this folder are fine and accessible. All seems well again.

Didn't get much out of the article so how about layman's terms. Is having 2
IE8 processes running @ the same time indicative of a problem?

I just read that article & it said it was normal.

Researching via Google got these links & also shows it may be an
infection. Because there are thousands of new infections every month,
no one program can keep up with them all, you need to leave no stone
unturned.
