We have a problem, A guest stayed in our home and installed a boot lock
password, Now he is gone, Our computer is locked on boot up with a password,
How do we remove this password or correct this problem? My Son is having a
fit, I think it is operating on Windows 98 or Melenium, 2000. XP might have
been added by him too. All help would be greatly appreciated

During the initial boot process press the DEL, F1 or whatever key the
message displayed on your screen say to press to enter the BIOS setup mode.
Once in the BIOS look for security options and either remove the password or
disable that option. Exit the BIOS and save your changes.

Follow the computer manufacturer's instructions for reseting or
disabling the BIOS password. These will be found in the
manual/documentation that came with the computer, and on the
manufacturer's support web site.

Anyone smart enough to password the startup is usually smart enough to
password access to the BIOS as well. The user needs to reset to BIOS
defaults by removing the CMOS battery or temporarily shorting a jumper on
the motherboard. Which process is used depends on the type of motherboard in
use.

That's not always the case and is wasn't with one of my PC(s) a few years
back.
Start with the basics and then go to the next level. Resetting a BIOS to the
defaults can some times cause grief!
