Locked Computer -- Cannot Unlock ??

Twice in two days users have come to me first thing stating they cannot
unlock their XP, SP2 workstations. We have a Server2003 AD. Users logged
out from the domain the night before. When they come in their computer is
locked and the username and password area is grayed out so that they cannot
enter their user info. Their systems were logged out when they left, and
when they return the systems are locked and so far all I can do is pull the
plug, even a computer management remote reboot does not work.

What could be causing these computers to become locked and not be able to
unlock as no entries can be made??

Are they getting locked out because someone is trying to login during the
nighttime hours (such as the cleaning crew), and are failing to guess their
passwords?

No, that's not it..... there are some KB articles that address similar
issues and reference corrupt screen savers but nothing changes on either
machine. Both these users lock their doors at night.
