Location of recorded videos on AIW 2006???

I just built a new system and installed an AIW 2006. This is my 5th AIW
card, and at this point I am going to say the WORST one. I have a long
list of complaints, but right now I just want to be able to log in or out
in less than 10 minutes!!!

My system belongs to a domain, and I use my AIW as a DVR to record shows
so I can watch them at my convenience. The other main use is that I am
transferring my video tape collection to DVD. I have about 500+ videos,
and it looks like the AIW 2006 wont capture from a video tape! Again, not
really the current problem.

The problem is that XP copies your profile to/from the server every time
you log in/out, and with the AIW storing 37GB of videos in my profile it
takes a while! The other issue with this is that I bought a 500GB D:
drive to store the videos on, but I can't use it.

On my previous cards I could choose where I wanted to store the recorded
video, but apparently not on this one!

Am I missing something? Is there a registry setting I can change?

I am about an inch away from sending this thing back and never buying
another AIW card.

Not that this solves your issue with changing the location, but may be a
workaround until you find the option.

Since your using roaming profiles why don't you setup my documents
redirection. This way they are saved on your server in your home directory
and thus would not need to be copied back and forth on logon/logoff.

Well for 2 reasons:

1. Perofrmance. The transger rate between a SATA II 3Gb/sec hard drive
and the server is significant. This makes a big diference when editing
an burning DVDs.
2. I bought a 500GB D: drive just to store media/videos, and don't have
that much space on the server.

I just don't understand why they removed that option?

Thanks for the effort.

If the domain policy allows you to change the location of your "My Documents"
folder, just point it at your D: drive... the system will move all your current
files there as well. (This helps, assuming the software is putting the video
within My Documents somewhere.)

Right-click My Documents, go to Properties, and under the "Target folder
location" box, hit the Move... button. This will prompt you for a new location,
and will move the entire contents there.
