Does it go by any other name, i cant find it and have show
hidden files selected.
thanks.

Hi Franky,

No, it is a hidden file. You will need to do
this...
Go to the Control Panel
Folder Options
View tab and tick the bullet that says to show
hidden files
Uncheck the box that says to hide system files
(It will squawk; that's okay)
Then you can find the pagefile.sys with a
search...,
or look under WINNT,
or do a search for files over a certain size.

Hi again,

Mine is named pagefile.sys

I'm not sure, but that may be one of those files that you can option to
be elsewhere, so you might try running a search for it and see what
develops from there.

you can find the location by right clicking my computer >
properties > Advanced > Performance Options > Change
(under virtual memory). This should give you the location
of the pagefile.sys and size.

Thanks for you help guys.

I have one more question, I need to move the page file to
another drive on the pc, can I simply cut & paste it to
the other drive or is there another way to move it? I need
to have it completely removed from the C: Drive.

Thanks again.

Hi again Franky,

I'm not in the mood right now to test this possibility, but you "may" be
able to change it's location through Control
Panel/system/advanced/performance Options/Virtual Memory/Change. I know
you can change it's size there, and it looks like there may be some
other things you can do too.

Why do you want to move it, C: getting crowded? If that's the case
you're probably better off exploring some other possibilities first.

....and at that same location you can place the pagefile (or pagefiles)
anywhere you like on a local hard drive. Optimally you'd place it/them
on partition(s) on the least-used controller(s)/drive(s), to reduce
read/write access times. The pagefile is accessed frequently.

Look up "pagefile" or "paging" in Start > Help.

Hi Again Franky,

This will get you started understanding how to

This tells you how to move pagefile.sys out of the

Hi Franky

Try going through Explorer. In Explorer go to the c:\ or root drive. Using the menus do to Tools, Folder Options, the View tab and under Hidden Files and Folders, click Show Hidden Files and Folders. Also make sure to uncheck the option to Hide protected operating system files. Click back into the explorer window, right click and hit refresh. After doing what you need to do I would recommend re-applying the above attributes so critical files do not get accidently moved or deleted
