you can try searching for it. select the advanced option and then select by
size. then select specify size. IT does the size in KB so you need to set it
to atleast and then specify a size large enough to rule out most other
files. my math sucks but i will attemp to give you a figure that might work.
3 gig should be about 3000megs wich should be about 3000000kb now if your
not sure exactly what size it is, then drop that to somethign like
2,500,000 and it should display every file larger then that. look for it and
then find the path it lists.
someone else will probably corect my file sizes so if it doesn't work check
for corections. i'm probably off on my estimates.
OK, I found a bunch of files which look right, but when I tried to open them,
it says "you are attempting to open a bin file, and editing or modifying
these could cause serious damage to your system: What do I do? Thanks for
all of your help!
First goto the tools menu and then select properties. You should by in the
folder properties now. select show hiden files and then unckeck hide file
extentions for know file types.
You should now be able to view the enitre name of the files including the
extentions. You might also need to change the view on the results windows to
detailes so windows doesn't autohide part of the name. Do not opern a .bin
file because it is somethignelse. your looking for media type files that are
probable goign to be somename.avi Notice the .avi as it is the extention.
There are several other file extentions it coujld be also but my mind is
drawing a blank right now (time of night).
what type of file is it? dvd? movie form the internet or maybe a quicktime
show or real player movie? each will/might have a different file extention
and could bea number of different things.
It definitely shows it as a .bin file, whatever that is. I have been
downloading movies from my camcorder onto my hard drive, then burning them to
a disk, then deleting the movie. I just couldn't find it this time!
did you end up finding it? If your using windows movie maker look to were
your projects are kept. You might need to open the program you use and then
create a name for the project before you burn it to a disk. then you can
look for the project name.
a .bin file can have many different uses. If memory serves me corectly they
are binary files used to store information for different program in much the
same waay databases do withoutn the complexity of using a database.A windows
movie maker raw video file might have a extention like .mswmm or somethign
simular.
