locating digital camera

when I hookup my sony DSC-70 and try to download the pics
using the get pictures from camera or scanner icon in the
picture task window the computer will not let windows xp
download from the camera.The computer says it knows the
camera is hooked up but for some reason xp won't pick it
up.There is no softwear with the camera that I can use to
help with my problem.

Have you tried downloading directly?
After connecting your camera, wait 15-20 seconds for the USB connection to
be made.
Open My computer. Look under Devices with Removable Storage. You camera will
be listed there as a drive. Click on It to open it. You will see a folder
icon. Click on it to open it. You will see another folder icon. Click on it
to open it. The photo files will be displayed. Click on the Edit button on
your top bar and click on Select all. This will highlight all file names in
blue. Look at the menu on the left of the file names and click on Copy
theses files. Select a folder or make a new folder and the files will be
copied there.
