I have a camera conected to my computer it is a still camera as well as a
webcam, the webcam works how it should.
However i can't download photos from the camera that i take when the camera
is away from my computer.Below is a short instruction i got from help and
support it makes mention of a advance user tab,but when i bring up the
properties for the camera there is no advance user tab.Can some one help me
please free software would be nice.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To take pictures with a digital camera
Right-click the camera with which you want to take pictures, and then click
Get pictures.
On the first page of the Scanner and Camera Wizard, click advanced users
only.
Focus the camera on the subject of the picture.
In Camera Tasks, click Take a new picture.
A preview of the picture is displayed.

The only way i can take photos is to take them while
conected to my computer, which is no good to me i would
like to take photos of my car dog house ect.To do so
using this way i would need a hundred mtr lead.

Does this camera have a memory source?
Internal memory? Memory card?

What's the name and model number of the
camera?

When the camera is connected to the PC, does an entry for it appear as a
disk drive in My Computer?
If so, what happens when you click on the entry?

The below would be a proceedure to take a picture with the camera connected
to the PC, and not applicable to use as a standalone camera.
"To take pictures with a digital camera

as a webcam and actively connected to your pc
the camera is not storing any
pics on it and instead is downloading the images
to your pc in real time.

if your trying to download the saved images to the pc
directly from your camera, then you will need a twain driver
from the manufacturer specifically designed for winxp, that is
if your camera is not winxp ready / PnP. Otherwise, your pics need
to transfer via memory card.

1) You need to figure out if pics "are" being transferred
onto the memory card by your camera
"or"
2) is the problem that the pc can't get the pics off the
memory card....

the secondary question above would be something that
would interest us in figuring out.....

So here's the deal...without some type
of memory the camera has nowhere
to store the images. Looks like you'll
have to stay connected to your computer
until you get a camera with some memory.

Assuming you mean Argus DC1512, the specs say there is 2MB of internal
memory. I just read the documentation for this camera (available at
http://www.arguscamera.com/Discontinued/index.htm which can be downloaded
along with the driver). The camera holds from 19 to 152 pictures depending
on the Resolution and Compression chosen. According to the documentation,
once the memory is full, the pictures can be downloaded to your pc via the
USB cable and the camera software that installs the driver.

The manual obviously suffers from "whatever language" to English
translation, but it can be deciphered.
