Local printer not ready after Windows restart

Hi,

On a HP desktop comptuer (running WinXP PRO) we have Epson-LQ printer
connected via LPT port. When user restarts or shut-down computer the printer
is displayed as not-connected and the only thing to get it working is to
delete it and re-scan HW so that Windows installs it again. Have checked all
settings, Windows are patched with latest defintiions, also no virus or
spyware.
Any ideas what is causing this problem and how to solve it?
Thank you in advance, regards,
Miha

Does the printer reinitialize when the PC starts or restarts. The
font/control lites should blink and the print head should cycle to the
left margin. If this is not happening, I would verify that the proper
motherboard drivers have been installed, and the parallel cable is good.
