Probably will not let you change settings it recieves
from the domain. Log onto your domain controller and open
your Domain Security (from administrative tools),
Security settings, Account policies, and adjust your
settings accordingly from there. The new settings won't
propagate for up to 90 min by default, but rebooting THE
CLIENT propagates machine policy immediately. So does
command "gpupdate /target:computer /force" from command
prompt, but it'll tell you some settings changes require
reboot anyway. Good luck.

But if I want to have a different policy on the local
machine as oppose to the entire domain . Is that possible
