local login to member server

My buddy has a couple member servers that use to belong to a domain.

These three servers have W2K Advance server and at the login
box, I am unable to connect to one of three domains.

I have not work with Windows domains in the past as I play mostly
in UNIX and Linux (currently learning Windows domains though).

I just want to be able to get into the local machine.

These servers have been shutdown for two to three years and he
just wants to make sure there is no data on these systems.

What process do I need to go through to be able to get access to these
local machines?

I did a search on google, but I am unable to find the right criteria
to find the articles that will help.

If you have links or other posts, that is just fine.

TIA

Ask him for the password for the local administrator account.

When I try the password, it states that it is trying to authenticate to the
domain and
eventually times out. There is no option to log into "EXAMPLE(this
computer)" in
the login box, just the three different domains.

If I use "F8" to get to a prompt during a "repair" session, the password
works and
I can get access to the C: drive.

The problem is I am unable to access the other two drives in the machine.

I was going to just put the drives on another W2K box to read the drives but
one of three is encrytped. Heck that may mean that without the domain
controller,
I may not have the keys to to the encrypted drive.

Then they are domain controllers not member servers. Probably easiest to
blow it away and start a new install.
