Local Login Screen

Leo the Lion

Dumb question...I have two users logging into a Win2000 Terminal
Server. When user1 logs in he gets his Novell Login prompt and then a
local Windows 2000 prompt. When User2 logs in he also gets his Novell
Login prompt and then the Windows2000 prompt prefilled with User1
name. He needs to change it to his name and log in.
I'm trying to elimate this 2 login screen for Win2k. Any thouhgts???

Thanks
Leo

Leo,

There should be a group policy that will do this: Go in to:

Computer Configuration | Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local
Policies | Security Options and then look for - in the right pane - the
entry "Do not display last username in logon screen".. Simply enable this.

You might want to create this 'single entry' GPO and use Loopback - Replace
Mode and link it to the OU in which the computer account object of your
Terminal Server resides so that only those users logging onto the TS are
affected by this policy.

There is also a registry hack that you might want to simply implement on the
TS instead.

HTH,

Cary
