Local Intranet Sites listing is blank

After adding a site the addition appears successful but closing the dialogue
box and reentering through the advanced button for local intranet sites, the
list of web sites is blank. I can not then verify what sites have been put
into the local intranet zone.

There is a site I am trying to add but I am prevented because IE says it is
in another zone. Reviewing all other zones does not indicate that this site
is in any other zone.

Hi JayL,

Group Policy entries may not appear in the User's listing as they are stored
under the HKLM rather than the HKCU key.
Check your Group Policy settings for Zone sites and remove the duplicate
entry in the other Zone.

Do you know what key exactly, as I have done a search for what the address
should be and I can not find it in the registry at all. I am assuming it is
in in plain text and not translated into hex.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet

I was hoping you were going to give me a different key as there are no
addresses recorded there for the local intranet zone. That is why I did a
blanket search for the addresses in the registry no matter where they might
be with no luck. I was hoping there was a specific key for turning on/off
the display of the addresses.

I did a test on a different system and tried to add an address that was
already in the local intranet zone. The error message that resulted was
exactly the same in that it implied the address was in a different zone when
in fact it was already in the intranet zone. In this particular case the
error message should have stated that the address was a duplicate of one in
the zone already.

Any other thoughts?

Hi Jay,
Are you using the IE5 tools addon - Add to Trusted/Restricted Zone
utilities? IE version? These addons are incompatible with IE7.

Regards.

No, we have not adopted IE7 for use. This is a problem with IE6. Sorry for
not stating that up front.
