Local internet only

I have a Compaq notebook with Vista Home Premium. I can't connect to the
internet through my DSL. The connection is set as Local Only. Last time I
was able to connect it said Local and Internet. I can't connect wirelessly
either. How do I switch to Local and Internet, or am I missing a setting
somewhere else. This is getting frustrating. Any help will be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Open Network > Network & Sharing Center > on the Network topology graphic up
at the top, to your right between your machine and the Internet globe, click
the X in the middle and let it run a diagnosis, should correct the issue. If
it doesn't report back.

Thank you for your reply. Before I tried your suggestion I had connection
for a minute than it dropped again. I did the diagnostic but no results.

Have you checked your Firewall, your Antivirus to see if they are
interfering with your network connection?
