local file as homepage with scripts --> security warning ??

Dan

I have a local file as hompage (file:///C:/jumppage.htm). That file contains
some scripting as well (javascript). Before I installed SP2, I had
absolutely no problem. My homepage came up fine.

Now after I have installed SP2, each time I start the browser, I get the
following Information bar:

"To Help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file
from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for
options..."

I have tried any security settings I could imagine, setting also everything
to low. I still get that Info bar. I can of course "Allow Blocked
Content..." for every session, but that is painful if you start the browser
several times.

The same file on a web server does not have the problem.

The right bottom corner shows me that I am in the "My Computer" zone, but I
could not identify the security settings for that zone in IE.

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks alot

Regards

Daniel

To allow active content from local files for xp sp2, go to the internet
options | advanced tab and scroll down to the security section...

Hi Daniel,

This is due to Local Machine restrictions implemented in XP SP2. The file runs fine from a web server because it runs from "Internet Zone" and not the "My Computer" zone (locally)
