Local client printers not available in terminal services

G

Guest

We have a windows 2k server and when we log into terminal services, some of
us have local default client printers available and some of us do not. We are
all using Windows XP Professional SP2 on our client computers and according
to everything I have read, with RDP 5.1 or later, local default printers
should be available. There are no policies etc on the servver preventing
this. I am not able to figure out why some computers are OK and the local
client default printers are available and on some computers they are not.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Anything in the EventLog on the server?
Which printer models are not redirected?
Maybe the server doesn't have a native driver for those models?
If that's the case, do *not* install a 3rd party printer driver on
the server, since most 3rd party drivers are not TS compatible.
Instead, map the printers to a native driver by creating a custom
ntprintsubs.inf file.

If the local printer uses a custom printer port (some HP models
create a DOT4 port), then apply this article first:
