loading software

hi please someone help!!!! im trying to load some new
software on my comp which is windowsXP (microsoft
frontpage 2000 to be precise) it loads about half but
then an error comes up saying that i need to insert my XP
professional service pack 1 cd.
Why is it doing this all of a sudden and what the heck is
this cd? Do i need to buy, can i buy? please help if you
can and mail me soon as you can ....... Mark

The application seems to need some OS files. Have a look on your drive for
an \i386 directory, if it's there that is where the setup files are. If
it's not there, contact the system vendor for an appropriate install CD.

In some cases OEM vendors do not supply the install CD as a way to save
money (which savings are allegedly passed on to you). Personally, I think
that's a false economy. It may be that you will need to purchase a copy of
the XP version (home or pro) that is installed on your machine.

It sounds more like this application requires SP1 to installed and
it's not - so the installer is looking to the XP SP1 cd for the files
(up updated files) it needs.

To the OP: have you installed SP1? If not, you don't have to buy it,
you can install (or download and install) it from Microsoft.
 
You can also order SP1a on a CD for a small fee to cover postage and
handling.
