Loading Printing Paper

Actually I have the problem with my Canon Pixma MP 600 that I want to
print from the paper cassette (which is selected properly according to
the light shining on the printer), but when I start printing the
printer somehow switches to the manual paper feed (who is of course
empty, as I do want to print from the cassette).

When I abort the printing process, the light switches back to the
"cassette" position.

This problem just started when I switched on the printer and wanted to
print; so I did not execute any operation that could have blocked
something.

What should I do?

Check the Windows drivers settings and make sure that they do not
default to the manual feed settings.
