How do I transfer my Outlook 2000 contacts, calendar, e-mails, etc from my
old computer to my new computer running Outlook 2007.
I have 2 Personal Folders on Outlook 2000 - I exported/backed up the 2000
..PST files, but when I tried to restore them in Outlook 2007 itye only
imported 1 of the 2 Personal Folders and NO contacts or calendar data.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

As posted here MANY times - do NOT use the import/export function to move
data from one instance of Outlook to another.

take a look here:

As posted daily; with OL closed you copy the data files.
Locate them on the other HD (Documents folder, do not ovewrite any existing
data file)
Within OL2007 File>Open>Data File.....browse to these & open
You would then copy data from old to the new unicode 2007 data file

The howto/backupandrestore link has been very useful. Thank you.
A couple of issues:
1. I copied the .pst file to a CD - I am unable to uncheck the 'read only'
box. I get error messages and even if I check 'ignore' or 'ignore all' the
file remains a read only file.
2. When I try to test the back-up file I receive the error message,
"Properties for this information service must be deined prior to use". When
I click OK I receive another error message, "File Access denied. You do not
have the permission required to access the file OUTLOOK.pst.

I am signed on as the Administrator on XP.

Any insights or suggestions how I might test the back up file?

You have to copy from Cd to HD, then remove the read only attribute in file
properties.
By default a file on a cd is read only

Good Answer! Successful opening the .pst file in OL 2007!
Now how do I get my contacts and calendar into OL 2007 from OL 2000?

As DL said. However, keep in mind you can't copy the default folders
themselves. You must open those folders (i.e., Calendar, Contacts, Inbox,
Outbox, Sent Items, Tasks, Notes), select the contents with CTRL-A, then
click Edit>Copy to Folder, specifying the corresponding folder in the new
folder set. For the calendar, switch to a table view like By Category in
order for CTRL-A to work.
And how do I configure Contacts to use as an address book?

It should be configured correctly by default. If, after moving the contacts
to your default Contacts folder, if they don't show up in the address book,
see this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287563/en-us

Happy Monday!
I know these things are always, always, always a user issue...........BUT I
had 2 Personal Folders in OL 2000. The 2nd Personal Folder contained the
contacts and calendar. The 2nd folder is currently in OL 2007 sans the
calendar and contacts. Currently, I have only 2 Personal Folders in OL 2007
and those are the 2 folders I had in OL 2000!
Any ideas?

Outlook 2007 is different from previous versions in that you will NOT see
the Calendar or Contacts folders in the folder list. Click on the Calendar
button at the bottom left hand-side of the maim window and see if your
calendar shows there. (Ditto Contacts...)

I understand what you are referring to, but no there is no data in the OL
2007 navaigation Calendar or Contacts.
Thanks for trying.

What process did you follow to move your data from Outlook 2000 to 2007?

I used the information provided by DL at
http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm
In short I copied the OL 2000.pst file to a CD using my 'old' comuter. I
then opened the copied file on OL 2000 to verify it was a good copy.
Everything was there as it had been prior to the file copy so I took the CD
and copied the .pst file onto the Desktop of the 'new' computer running OL
2007 and opened that file with OL 2007. Everything is there except the
Calendar and Contacts.

I have a secondary issue which should probably be addressed after I have
secured the Calendar and Contacts on OL 2007, but I will mention it now. I
had 2 Personal Folders on OL 2000. All the 'working folders' (Inbox,
Outbox, Sent Items, Drafts & Deleted Items) were in one of the Personal
Folders along with a three other folders that I used to store incoming
e-mail for 3 e-mail accounts that were business related. And that was all
that was in that folder. The other Personal Folder was much larger and held
all other folders, but did not contain any 'working folders'. Now the
smaller Personal Folder has a non-functioning set of 'working folders' AND
the second, larger, Personal Folder also contains a set of 'working folders'
that OL 2007 is using. And they are not easily accessed because they are
spread from top the bottom. amongest many folders. I'd really like OL 2007
to use the 'working folders' in the smaller Personal Folder. Is that
possible?

Thank you so much for your assistance in this matter. Sue>

PS: OL 2000 Calendar and Contacts folders were in the smaller Personal
Folder along with what I have been calling the 'working folders' - Inbox,
Drafts, etc. Everything else came along but those peskey Contacts and
Calendar files.

Were you using a PAB (Personal Address Book) in outlook 2000? If so, and I
think that O2000 used a PAB by default in one of its modes. then that is NOT
contained in the pst file. It's a separate file AFAIK.

Outlook 2000 never used a PAB file. It only retained backwards compatibility
with them. The hint here is that the OP was using 2 PST files and appears
only to have migrated one of them.

And where might this second .pst file be found. It is not in the Outlook
folder that contains the .pst file I did migrate.

It's wherever you left it. As we have posted repeatedly, importing simply
never transfers data correctly and should never be used. Importing would
never transfer both PST files. You must transfer data files yourself by
copying them and opening them in the next installation of Outlook.
